This is another one of my Great Smoky Mountains Photos I took.

Once again, this was during my hike up Chimney Tops. This one section of trail really caught my eye. The trail seemed to have been designed so that it would be part of the scenery, yet still accessible. I stopped to look for some interesting subjects and found that the trees here were amazing. They were very tall and looked very old. The late morning light was just perfect, and one of my SCA NPS Academy buddies happened to be pressing on.

I felt very relaxed and wanted to stay a bit longer, but I had to catch up with the rest of the group waiting at the summit (this was about 3/4 of the way up).

It was very different from walking in an upstate NY secondary growth forest. :P Just seemed so alien to me.

Glad you like it! :)

I've never seen such tall trees. Makes you really get a sense of how old the place is. :)
